Applications and Field Deployment

Municipal Utility Networks:

Power distribution across urban and rural grids requires continuous operation under unbalanced phase loads and lightning surge exposure. Our transformers use multi-layer insulation systems and surge arresters to protect against line transients.

Commercial Buildings & Public Infrastructure:

High-density public structures enforce strict fire safety codes. Our cast resin dry-type series uses F-class self-extinguishing resin matrices that eliminate oil spill hazards and prevent combustion during internal electrical faults.

Heavy Industrial & Mining Plants:

Arc furnaces, rolling mills, and mining machinery subject transformers to harmonic distortion, cyclic overload, and high vibration. Our heavy-duty core clamping and reinforced tanks maintain structural rigidity and low vibration noise under high dynamic stresses.

Solar PV & Energy Storage Substation Integration:

Inverter-duty step-up transformers must handle non-sinusoidal current waveforms and bidirectional power flows. We build dual-secondary winding transformers with grounded electrostatic shielding between primary and secondary layers to prevent high-frequency inverter noise propagation into the utility grid.

OEM and ODM Customization Options

Manufacturing Quality Control and Testing

Immersed Transformer

Raw Material Validation: CRGO steel sheets undergo magnetic permeability and core-loss verification. Electrolytic copper coils are tested for conductivity and dimensional tolerances. Insulating oils are tested for breakdown voltage (BDV greater than 60 kV), moisture content, and dielectric dissipation factor.

Core Stacking & Winding Precision: Automatic core shearing lines ensure burr-free lamination edges to reduce eddy current losses. Computer-controlled coil winding machines maintain precise tensioning and turn counts, followed by vacuum drying cycles to remove moisture prior to oil impregnation or resin casting.

Type and Special Testing (Upon Request): Temperature rise tests, full-wave lightning impulse voltage withstand tests (BIL), noise level measurements (IEC 60076-10), and short-circuit withstand verification reports issued by independent testing bodies.

Routine Testing (100% of Produced Units): Every unit undergoes the following routine factory tests according to IEC 60076-1:

  • Measurement of winding resistance
  • Measurement of voltage ratio and phase displacement (Vector Group check)
  • Measurement of short-circuit impedance and load loss (Pk)
  • Measurement of no-load loss (P0) and no-load current
  • Separate-source AC withstand voltage test (Applied Voltage Test)
  • Induced overvoltage withstand test (DVWV)
  • Partial discharge measurement (for all Cast Resin Dry-Type units)
  • Transformer oil breakdown voltage and moisture content test

FAQ

Q: What are the key differences when selecting between Oil-Immersed and Cast Resin Dry-Type Transformers?

A: Oil-Immersed Transformers rely on mineral or synthetic oil for cooling and electrical insulation. They offer lower initial purchase costs, higher overload capacity, and superior heat dissipation, making them the standard choice for outdoor distribution and power utility installations.

Cast Resin Dry-Type Transformers use solid epoxy resin encapsulation for their windings. They contain no liquid dielectrics, eliminating fire hazards and liquid leakage risks. Dry-type units are required for indoor applications, high-rise buildings, underground facilities, and environmentally sensitive sites where fire safety codes prohibit oil-filled equipment.

Q: How do you guarantee that measured losses (P0 and Pk) comply with contractual specifications?

A: We build transformer cores using high-grade, cold-rolled grain-oriented (CRGO) silicon steel processed on automated step-lap shearing lines, which minimizes no-load losses (P0). Winding cross-sections are engineered using high-conductivity copper to maintain load losses (Pk) within tolerances. Every transformer undergoes no-load and load-loss testing in our high-voltage laboratory, and certified values are recorded on the FAT report provided prior to shipment.

Q: Can your transformers be engineered to withstand high-salinity or harsh coastal environments?

A: Yes. For oil-immersed transformers installed in coastal or marine environments (C4 or C5-M anti-corrosion classes), we supply stainless steel hardware, polymeric high-voltage bushings, and a multi-stage epoxy / polyurethane surface coating system tested to withstand 1,000+ hours of salt spray exposure according to ISO 12944. Dry-type units receive protective anti-fungal and anti-saline varnish coatings over exposed core laminations and busbars.

Q: What vector group configurations can you supply for international grid connections?

A: We produce all standard IEC and IEEE vector groups. The most common distribution configuration is Dyn11 (Delta primary, Star secondary with neutral), which isolates triple harmonics and allows single-phase lighting / power loads. Other vector groups, such as Ynd11, Dyn5, Yyn0, or dual-secondary Dy11y11 configurations for solar inverters, are available upon engineering review.

Q: What routine tests are performed on each unit before dispatch?

A: Every manufactured transformer undergoes 100% factory routine testing per IEC 60076. This includes winding resistance measurements, voltage ratio and vector group checks, short-circuit impedance and load loss tests, no-load loss and current measurements, separate-source AC voltage withstand tests, and induced overvoltage withstand tests. Cast resin units additionally undergo partial discharge testing to ensure values remain below 10 pC.

Q: What is the standard manufacturing turnaround time for customized distribution transformers?

A: Standard distribution units (50 kVA to 2,500 kVA) with standard voltage ratios have a manufacturing lead time of 3 to 4 weeks. Custom-engineered power units, specialized step-up transformers, or units requiring non-standard enclosure ratings (IP54 / IP55) or On-Load Tap Changers (OLTC) typically ship within 5 to 7 weeks following formal technical drawing approval.
